4 out of 5 stars Good quality for film   November 27, 2008

The scanner produces a very good quality scans from negatives and slides.
On the down side it is slow. It is also very cumbersome with regular OCR document scans.
The main problem is the MP Navigator software that seems to be very poorly tested on MAC. I am constantly getting the out-of-memory errors on my MAC with 2Gb RAM while it is working slowly, but fine on Windows with only 725Mb of RAM.
While I am happy with the quality, I do not see much use for this scanner once I am done with my negatives and slides.

5 out of 5 stars Great Scanner   November 24, 2008

This scanner is top notch. It was easy to install, has great features, and it easy to use. It also turns out a great image. The slide/film adapters work really well also for converting old media. I'd buy it again.

Love the quality, ease of use. Read the reviews on the $500 models, read the reviews on the Mid Range and Low range, the reviews for the $500 models were saying the same thing about this Midrange model, so feel I have a $500 scanner for about a third the price. Love the durability, doesn't seem cheap. Have scanned many photographs, no complaints the auto correction very nice. I would highly recommend this scanner. Software that comes with it, seems go get the job done as well.

4 out of 5 stars Canon 8800F Scanner   November 23, 2008

I love the scanner and have scanned all of my old pictures (5000 already) - the scanner recognizes edges so you can do multiples on the flatbed. My only complaint is that it only scans photos at up to 600 dpi - and while that is probably adequate for my snapshots - the process does take awhile.

New to scanning. Wanted a scanner to save old photos. Researched several scanners before purchase. This one worked well with Vista. Easy to set up. Can scan several photos on the flat bed and save each photo individually. Very quick operation. I would highly recommend purchase of this product.
