Not a stand alone copier June 11, 2008 This Lexmark is advertised as "all-in-one" but to me that suggests that it functions as a scanner, printer, and copier. However, in order to even simply copy it must be attached to a computer which is powered up. It would be more efficient if it functioned as a stand-alone copier. Otherwise, it is as advertised and probably worth the minimal price. I have used several of these all-in-one printers over the years and this is the first one that will not function as a simple copier by itself.
Won't print quality photos June 11, 2008 I bought this new from Walmart for $29.99. You get what you pay for. It came with both color and b&w ink cartridges as well as a USB cable, despite what other reviewers are saying. It printed a BEAUTIFUL test page (the three colored lines came out great), but when I try to print photos they come out completely different and crappy quality, no matter how many "troubleshooting" methods I try. I tried using "BEST" quality, I cleaned the nozzles (though the cartridges were NEW) and I even tried a different color cartridge. It just prints pictures in very, very poor quality. I don't know how so many other people are getting quality printing out of it... I guess it's just my luck to get a defective one?
Shell out for a better printer if you want to print photos! I have not used the scanner or fax, so I can't comment on those components.
Reliable excellent product May 22, 2008 Bought this as a gift and no problems so far at all. Love Lexamrk products.
Nice but you get what you pay for March 27, 2008 The Lexmark X1240 Color All in One Inkjet Printer is not the best or the worst printer you can buy. The paper feed might have problems only if you stack (100 or more) papers in the slot. Scanning/copying is slow but the quality is excellent. Printing is slow but like the scanning/copying, the quality is excellent. The Lexmark All in One Center program is very easy to navigate (on the pc). The printer itself only has 5 buttons on it so it's easy to operate. The main gripe is the ink cartridges. They don't last long and they are costly. That is how printer companies make their money so that is expected. You can shop around for cheaper ink and it won't mess up your printer. One last very important note, the printer does NOT come with a USB cable so have one on hand and it comes only with the color ink cartridge (you'll need to buy the b/w). In a nut shell, it is a "good" buy if you're not too concerned about speed. Overall, I'll admit, there have been a few printers I might have bought before I actually bought this one but still, I'm satisfied.
Lexmark X1240 all in one inkjet printer February 24, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This printer works well enough, not good for printing photos but that's not why I bought it anyway. It does print fairly slowly, not near as fast as my old HP that quit. The price was right! It bothers me that ink is SO expensive. That's where we get gouged. It's crazy that it's cheaper to buy a new printer with ink, than to just buy new ink! Is some company coming out with quality ink at a reasonable price? I heard that 3M is?
