Capable of macro photography, this lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification at the 300 millimeter focal length. It's the ideal high performance lens for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types of photography that frequently use the telephoto range. The lens features a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200 millimeters and 300 millimeters, with a maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9 to 1:2. The multi-layer lens coating and lens design reduce flare and ghosting, which is a common problem with digital cameras, and it also creates an optimum color balance through the entire zoom range. The minimum focusing distance is 59 inches at all zoom settings. The lens features a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths between 200 millimeters and 300 millimeters with a maximum close-up magnification. Without changing the distance between camera and subject, you can change the shooting magnification.

I purchased this lense as a Christmas present for my husband who is an amateur photographer. He hasn't put it down since the day he got it. He keeps showing me pictures of how far he can shoot certain things, like people in cars. He knows more about lenses than I do and this was one that he really wanted. I searched the web for this particular make and model and the price here was the best. It is built of a strong plastic, so the quality might be a little less than a metal lense, but for the price and for just a hobby, this was perfect for us.
Decent Zoom Lens November 2, 2008
This lens is fairly good for it's low price tag. It has quite a bit of zoom range, which is the main reason I bought it. It is rather slow, but can generally get the job done. I used this lens to shoot a high school soccer game and football game for the school newspaper and yearbook. I got some great soccer results, and got some decent football shots from the students section at night. If you are looking for a low priced zoom lens, try this one out.

The quality of this lens is wonderful. Its price very accessible, and it is very useful!
Auto Focus is fast and accurate and the lens is sturdy and comfortable.
With it you can take pictures and middle and long distances!
Along with the 18mm-55mm lens that I already have, is an ideal complement for almost any occasion.
I'm very very very happy!
It is a purchase that, not only I do not regret, but I would recommend to anyone!
Nice lens October 15, 2008
I just got this, and so far I am very satisfied. I wish the aperture was a little better, but I can't complain for the price. Overall, it is very good deal, and I would recommend it to anyone who can't afford a faster lens.
Great lens at the right price September 30, 2008
I'm not a photographic expert, but this lens meets my needs and was at a good price. Well built not cheap feeling or looking. Works well with the Canon Rebel Digital that I have. Is a good addition to the standard lens that came with the camera.
