Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
SLIK's exclusive A.M.T. super titanium alloy legs make the PRO 700 DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. The A.M.T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ration than standard aluminum, meaning the legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today's tripods.Capable of handling the weight of large format (4x5) field cameras or heavy, long telephoto lenses, The PRO 700 DX offer professional photographers and advanced amateurs the strength and stability they need while its size, and the use of A.M.T. alloy, make it lighter weight and more portable than THE PROFESSIONAL series.A tripod should be easy to use, so that that you spend more time concentrating on your photography than you do your equipment. The PRO 700 DX makes setting up easy with secure yet fast speed release leg locks, gearless center column, and 3 position adjustable angle leg locks for easy set up on uneven ground or steps. The adjustable angle locks combined with the PRO 700 DX Short Column (optional accessory) allow the tripod to be lowered to just 15 inches for very low angle, or macro photography in the field. The included PRO 700 DX all-metal 3-way pan head has one of the fasted and easiest to use quick release plates in the industry. SLIK made a circular quick release plate that can secure the camera to the tripod pointing in any direction, making attaching your camera (once the SLIK quick release plate is attached) more intuitive than most other heads that have squared off or angled plates.Value, today it's more important then ever. Compare the price and features of the PRO 700 DX to other manufacturers' professional camera supports and you will see that dollar for dollar and feature for feature, this is one of the best values in a professional tripod available.

5 out of 5 stars Good Quality   December 14, 2008

I searched high and low for a quality tripod for under $200.00 and came across this one. I am currently a student at NYIP and one of my instructors recommended the Slik for the quality and price. She didn't steer me wrong! I would, without hesitation, recommend this one to any photographer who want's to improve their photography. It is a little heavy, but being in New Mexico with the high winds, it is perfect for what I need.

4 out of 5 stars Good in windy weather   December 13, 2008
I live in a very windy part of the states and this tripod is very sturdy, and I feel comfortable that it will not sway or move during our high winds. This is a great tripop with many features including being able to turn it upside down. It is a little heavy, but the positives far outweigh that one aspect.

5 out of 5 stars Best tripod, heavy   November 30, 2008
Bought Slik 700D tripod a few weeks ago. This is the best tripod I ever own. It is heavy, sturdy and very tall. I like the release plate, which is circular and easy to put into the slot. Absolutely recommended, if you are serious about photography.

5 out of 5 stars Great tripod   November 23, 2008

It's heavy, but it's a very solid tripod. I was trying to use my Olympus e-510 with the 70-300mm zuiko lens and it was impossible with a cheap tripod. Too much vibrations! My camera now does not move at all. Totally recommended.

5 out of 5 stars One must have accessory for any Photographer   November 5, 2008

This is a must have unit for any Photographer. I have a 70 - 300 mm telephoto lens and this holds the lens and camera steadily. This is very useful for,

- Tall Photographers
- People who love night photography
- People who take photos where there are more wind. I live in Chicago ("Windy City") and this unit does the job very well allowing us to concentrate more on pictures.

I took some photos yesterday and uploaded it as video. Without this unit, these photos would not have been possible for me

This tripod might not be useful for people who do hiking a lot.

Love it and definitely recommend this !!!
